Abstract

An 82-year-old patient presented with recurrent infected and very painful venous ulcers on the left extremity. The treatment was carried out in the patient's own home by a multidisciplinary home hospitalization team. As a decision-making aid tool, the acronym DOMINATE was used. Punch grafting and negative pressure therapy together with com-pression therapy applied with short-stretch bandages were used in the treatment. The interventions aimed at getting the patient to tolerate the bandages were key in the resolution of the case. Punch grafting together with negative pressure therapy is a very effective and efficient strategy both for pain control and for stimulating the healing of venous ulcers.
